Hi, my name is Mark Gladman. Thank you for your interest in our work with the Karen of Burma.
I am a leader, curriculum writer/developer, and teacher in a work among the displaced Karen people of Eastern Burma. This work, based in North-Western Thailand, is a college that trains Karen Christian leaders to not only plant and lead faith communities, but also be intentional in supporting all in their locale as they rebuild their villages and lives in the midst of this civil war.
Our college equips leaders who can parse the Bible (especially the words of Jesus) to see, communicate and model what it means to be a Blessing In Action (hence our name). It teaches practical skills in how to work alongside other community leaders and elders to model and encourage social justice, care, concern, and tangible service in their localities. And most importantly, to communicate to their church members a reading of scripture that inspires them to do the same. the school has been, very fittingly, called Emmanuel {God with Us} Bible School.
HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
We have the opportunity to purchase coffee beans from a nearby Karen village at a more-than-fair price to them, (100,000 Baht, around $3000USD/$4500AUD) which we can then on sell to coffee processors for 150,000 Baht. The 50,000 Baht profit will be used to build the first of our buildings at the end of November 2024; and the principle saved to do the same the following coffee harvest. Please help us create this "Coffee Fund" using the donate link to the right. Your $10, $25, or $50 gift will help us raise the B100,000 and create a small annual income to support our school's infrastructure into the future.
You can also support us in an ongoing way by becoming a monthly supporter and member of our Blessing In Action Community using the monthly membership options to the right. In return, I hope that the writing, teaching, and resources I create here will inspire and bless you, helping you to also find where God is calling you to serve so you too can be actively a Blessing in Action.
Thank you again for your support of this work.
