How I spend summer...

Oct 05, 2022

I want to apologize that for the last 2,5 months, I didn't write anything here. This summer was very active, so it was hard to write here or continue working with any ideas.

First of all, and this is very sad - I must skip the idea to finish the “Never? Again…” game in the contest timeline just because it looks impossible to finish so huge game in a few months. I think working on this game will take me years, but I still like the idea and I want to finish it and publish it one day. Right now I have 4 almost ready levels and a main story and idea around the gameplay.

I also volunteered this summer at the scout camp in Poland for Ukrainian children who fled from the war and russians. I have nearly 15 years of experience working with kids in camps, and workshops, and some of the stories that they told shocked me. I think I will write a separate article about the camp and LARP, what I organized for them.

I didn't have enough time to play and have fun with video games, so it was hard for me to look for inspiration and work on board games. BUT! There are a few contests that I found on BGG, and right now when I'm sitting at a home with fever (or maybe it's COVID-19, who knows?) I definitely will continue working on some of my old titles. I don't wanna start any new project until I’ll publish something from the older games. Also, this time I want to spend and finish some articles here on the blog and one article on which I work for a very cool board game magazine. When it will be published I’ll send you this information and write more here.

I’m also taking part in a GameDev camp. It's still running, and this is my first experience as a GD for video games. We're working on the game based on vehicular battle cars, where you must destroy occupants and kill them using different abilities and weapons. It's in the early stage, so I'm not sure I can show you a lot about the game. Maybe a little bit later I wrote another article for this blog about the camp, our team, and what we did there.

It may sound weird, but when I just try to imagine this year from the perspective of time and that is exactly the moment world history creates, sometimes I think that I'm in the wrong place and doing something wrong. No, it's not like I procrastinate and do nothing. I mean that it's a great time to do big things!
