The day passes, always reminded
of cowardice and heroism
of people and sacrifice
of hope and despair
Painful ache, so many gone
a day that brings back the moments
when we stared in disbelief
and wondered if there'd be more
It was a day that won't truly fade away
and in honesty it never should
For we have learned and felt
dreamed and worried over it all
Life a precious gift, love lost and found
with determined attitudes
and intentions to do better
and to find a future fulfilled
