Wondering about... parents & typology

Wondering about... parents & typology

May 27, 2022

There are so many types of people in the world. We are all so unique. We learn that fast when we have children too. They’re like the perfect mix of both parents, yet with their own flare. The one thing I think every parent realises at some point with every child is “I have met my match!”. Your kids will likely challenge you in many of the exact same ways you challenged your parents when you were growing up. And I know, it serves us right.

Anyone who knows me knows that over the past 4 or 5 years, I’ve been quite enthralled by the Enneagram, as a method of typology for people. Sure, we’ve all done personality tests at some point in our lives, but honestly, I find this to be different. I published a piece here on my Buy Me a Coffee account that goes into a little more detail, but if in doubt, take a look here for more of an explanation from a site that I find most helpful https://www.yourenneagramcoach.com/start-here.

Now, it is completely possible that I may use language in future posts that is in line with the enneagram, as I believe it to be helpful. And for all of you out there who haven’t yet heard about this, let me encourage you to take even a brief look at it - if your experience is anything like mine, you may well feel quite seen after reading the results.

I love having conversations with people about how your default ‘type’ relates to other people, even to your kids, so please get in touch. If you know your type, leave a comment or a message. I’ll go first:

I’m Iain. I’m a Dad to 3 kids, and I am a Type 5.

Who’s next?
