I've been told more than once growing up, "to work hard in order to get ahead".
But what if we replace "work" with "play"?
Maybe also take out the need to get ahead and instead say, to get what I'm aiming for?
(Yes, there will still be the occasional and inevitable groove-busting paperwork, but...)
What if work could somewhat be like play, where learning is fun and curiosity is the boss?
I wonder how different our daily lives would be.
I personally don't mind my heart being stuck at age 7.
I forget more than I remember actually.
I certainly get older when I stop playing... and to me, that is the real danger.
We can do hard things. And many hard things that are worth doing.
I'm referring to balance and playfulness as companions and motivators for getting things done and doing it well, versus the pressure or stress, or anxiety of overexertion.
The groundedness and ease (even joy) that playtime and playfulness bring to any type of hard work we're asked to bear.
Keeping all this in mind as I set my intentions for the remainder of this first quester for 2023 (yes, already!).
How about you? How's work?
When was the last time work felt like play?
Alternatively, when was the last time you made time for pure play time, and actually, enjoyed it (versus thinking about the items on your to-do lists)?
What does "play" look like for you nowadays?
