On Blouberg beach,
the tide leaves a line in the sand.
Yesterday it was higher.
Today it lies further down.
Most of us walk past without noticing.
But if you stand still long enough,
you realise the shore has shifted.
Change is quiet like that.
We push the tide mark higher,
call it progress,
and then wonder why the shore feels unchanged.
But the sea does not argue with itself.
It simply leaves a witness —
a tide mark that says:
you are no longer where you were.
Perhaps that’s enough.
