Monday Wisdom
✍️ Riaan M. Odendaal

There is a moment in life when you realise that not every message deserves a reply.

Not because you are tired.
Not because you are bitter.
And not because you no longer care.

But because discernment has finally taken the place of urgency.

In earlier years, silence feels like failure.
Like something unfinished.
Like an admission of weakness.
We answer too quickly, explain too much, and defend what never needed defending.

Adulthood teaches something quieter.

That restraint is not retreat.
That silence can be a form of strength.
That clarity does not rush to be understood.

Some conversations are not invitations — they are tests.
Some demands are not urgent — they are intrusive.
And some answers cost more than they are worth.

Rest, in this sense, is not withdrawal.
It is preparation.

Preparation to speak when it matters.
Preparation to act when it counts.
Preparation to remain still when noise would dilute the truth.

You don’t owe the world a response to everything.
You owe yourself the wisdom to know the difference.
