Welcome! I’m Don Steve—outdoor instructor, long-distance backpacker, and author.
Originally from Sri Lanka, I moved to Canada a decade ago and fell in love with the wild. From walking long-distance trails coast-to-coast to completing the Canadian Outdoor Leadership Training (COLT) program on Vancouver Island, the outdoors became my life's calling.
I write about deep-wilderness backpacking, global travels, and navigating life when it doesn't follow the map—a perspective shaped by losing over $5,000 in gear to theft, which inspired my memoir "May I Buy My Own Stolen Hiking Gear?"
