Kaufe Scouts Trail einen Kaffee

I adopted mustang Dreamer in January 2025 from the BLM (bureau of land management). She was round up from the wild when she was about three and half years old. We believe she may have had a baby during the round up. It was one of the most horrific roundups to date. Helicopters chasing horses and babies, more than 50 horses died during the roundup. We believe she was separated from her baby or it was killed. She has a dent in her face, a reminder of the horror she experienced. She was adopted once before me and then returned for inadequate facilities. I don't know how long they had her. It was long enough to make her completely terrified and untrusting of humans, being touched, anything in your hand, enclosed spaces. When I went to the BLM holding pen to look for my next mustang project. I adopt one a year, gentle it at liberty with positive reinforcement, and then find it an amazing forever home. Trying to do my part to get some of the more then 66,000 wild mustangs, already round up, into loving homes. I felt Dreamers gaze on me before I noticed her. She stood in the back, never stepping forward, eyes locked onto me and never letting go. I heard her clearly....don't leave me behind. I took two mustangs home this year. The other one, Tonka, I gentled and he went home with his new mommy in April. Dreamer was not ready for a home. Her gentling was slow, at her pace. Patiently building trust with her as she began healing from her past traumas. I integrated EMDR therapy, moved for the winter and spring to the healing powers of Sedona Arizona, integrated her into our own little herd. She started thriving, showing her personality, kind, funny, curious and brave. It took me months for her to be able to walk into a trailer. I never intended to keep her. There are so many reasons not to. But each month that passes, as she gives her trust completely to me, I struggle to ever find anyone I could trust to keep her safe for the next 20 years! My mustang Tuk Tuk lost his grammy (35 year old Hettewuti) and he took it so hard. He suffered with sadness for a long time. He has formed a special bond with Dreamer, they truly love each other. Recently Dreamer went camping with us for the first time. There were lots of horses and mules. One day a big group rode past Dreamer. She called out to them. She has only whinnied a handful of times in 6 months. This is a clear sign that she has suffered so much loss and is still looking for them. How could we pull her away from the new family we have created for her. It feels like a betrayal of her trust. Daily we are inundated with comments that we should keep her. One of the big reasons not to is the financial cost of another horse. She is 6 and we can expect her to live at least another 20 years or more. The estimated cost (without inflation) for those 20 years and without including any emergencies is $6,500 per year or $130,000 over twenty years. Everyone who would like her to stay with us, we are willing to commit to her lifetime. We need you to commit to sponsoring her. A little or a lot, one time or monthly. What ever you can do, it will all make a difference. Dreamer is counting on you. Happy Trails, Scout
