I came out of a decorated career (OK, I was thrown out, for having too high a salary) in magazines (articles editor of Playboy; VP/Editor of Men’s Health; editor of BACKPACKER) to sell/write/ghost three NYT bestsellers in the health field (The Lean Belly Prescription, The 8-Hour Diet, Weight-Loss Boss; most recently, an $800k deal for Shaun T’s T is for Transformation). And then the pandemic hit. Bad for health! So rather than write anybody else’s book this time, I began writing, illustrating, and publishing my own work.
What a relief!
I also got busy on other fronts, landing a gig combining narrative + drawings + laughs for the Colorado Sun, a high-profile e-newspaper with 20 million+ page-views a year. My recent column was the most opened Sunday 'toon in the Sun's history. Plus I'm a culture/humor/illustrator/animator/ commentator with NPR in northern Colorado. Hey, it worked for David Sedaris, and he can't draw a lick!

Hey Jay! It’s fun to be hanging out with you in these wordy districts. Thx for the Java! It keeps me going! 🤑
Hey, pal, I love that you took your magazine skill as a word-n-graphics guy to tell these stories. I was just thinking about you: been hanging out on Orange Pond, reading books on my paddleboard. The loons just left yesterday.
