AIM HIGH | Alternate Origin Story of the Air Force Motto

My mentor for the last 8 years was a dear man by the name of Major General Carl G. Schneider, USAF (Ret.). He was born in Ralls, Texas, in 1928, he and his five siblings the grandchildren of original Texas settlers. "Carl" (as he required I call him) endlessly regaled me with stories that were both fascinating and entertaining from a historical perspective. Passing this past April (2023), the way he told stories leaves one vacuous hole in my life. Here's a story he shared with me about what he believes to be the origin story of the Air Force motto "Aim High." After hearing it several times, it occurred to me one day that I needed to get this story on tape. Here it is per his permission. Aim high, Sir.
