As we slog our way toward a final arrangement, there's multiple choices to make, before we land on final decisions. In this little solo section, when we were cutting the basic tracks, George Newton played a beautiful solo. There's a version of it somewhere here on BUY ME A COFFEE if you dig through past posts. Yet originally, that little section was designed for a muted trumpet solo from Jeff Stockham, which we cut yesterday at HOBIN STUDIOS. This snippet is THAT, as they say. Its nice to have a big band with an embarrassment of talent and riches, but it can make me over equivocate and get stuck in "Hamlet-ville". There are many twists and turns in a recording before you reach the true final, end of the road. We're almost there, but.... still have to track the real string players, mix it, master it, package it, and deliver it to market. Onward! Forward progress is forward progress.
