Hello, I'm Paula and I'm a writer from Belfast based in Newcastle upon Tyne. I am currently working on a blended memoir titled Somewhere Between in which I work through challenging personal experiences through analysing specific art works and the stories they embody. This manuscript-in-progress emerged out of training and support I had from winning an Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice grant in 2022, and in 2024 it won a Northern Writers' Award, which I hope will be a huge help in getting it published.

Also in 2024 I participated in New Writing North's Inkubator programme where I gained training and experience in facilitating writing workshops. I have prior teaching experience from my time as an early-career arts and humanities academic, and I hope to find collaborative ways of joining with others in progressing our reading, writing and wider interests. I aim to develop a facilitation practice as my writing progresses.

From 2018 to 2022 I made Audiovisual Cultures Podcast, which is still fully available on a wide range of platforms and includes some excellent interviews and discussions with film-makers, writers, artists and researchers. I'd love for you to check it out.

Finally, I'm from a working-class background and make a low income scrabbled from freelance work and two zero-hours jobs. I have no paid leave. Times are really tough, and if you'd like to show appreciation for my work and can spare anything, you've no idea how grateful I would be for one-off payments or ongoing regular support.
