Why the Change?
OPC started as a platform to celebrate Black art, culture, and voices. But this year, we’re stepping back to focus even more on the community. It’s not about me anymore—it’s about us. We want to highlight your stories, your art, and your ideas. OPC is here to give you a space to be unapologetically Black and reconnect with the roots of our culture.
We’re not letting outside voices drown us out or erase our contributions. This space is for empowerment—focused on family, health, wealth, and business growth. It’s time to teach our kids, support our elders, and guide those who need it most. We’re united and determined to move forward together.
Staying Focused During Election Season
With the election and all the chaos surrounding it, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But we need to stay calm, focus on ourselves, and keep our mental health strong. Teach your kids to be prepared for whatever comes, but remind them that we’re resilient. We’ve survived hardships for centuries—and we’ll keep pushing forward.
How OPC Plans to Grow
We’re excited to drop new art soon and want to feature more writers, artists, and businesses. If you have talent, a story, or an idea—this is your space to shine. While this isn’t a paid opportunity, it’s a chance to build your résumé, share your voice, and be part of something bigger.

2024 was a year of rapid growth for Harper Assists, and keeping up was tough. In 2025, we’re looking to build a team—volunteers and hires—so we can grow even more and offer incentives for contributors.
