Reminder: Grifin's $5 Monthly Membership Fee Starts 9/25!
Grifin, a robo-investment app that's been popular in Referral World since February with their frequent $30 referral bonus promotions, emailed members last month (also available here). Beginning 9/25/24, they'll be charging monthly/annual/lifetime fees, and members will have to choose between the $5 monthly, $36 yearly, or $169 lifetime paid memberships. Grifin is currently offering the first 5,000 "founding members" a $49 lifetime membership, which you need to opt-in for here and must do so before the 9/25 deadline (founding members are those who joined before 8/26/2024). Grifin informed me that over 4,000 of the 5,000 spots have already been claimed, thanking me and a dozen other "MVP referrers" for our referral efforts (but not gifting us memberships, unfortunately). I paid the lifetime $49 fee this morning.
Grifin mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago that they plan on offering another increased referral bonus promotion this month. However, as of today, it's still just the standard $5/$5 promotion. In my latest communication with the company, I recommended that Grifin prioritize and continue offering the increased bonus promotions and consider increasing the signup bonuses to account for these new fees.

If you are currently a member but don't wish to pay the monthly/annual/lifetime membership fee, you can cancel your account by opening your Grifin app, clicking on the "Menu" icon in the top left corner of your home page, clicking "Close My Account" under the Other section and following the prompts to ensure any funds on Grifin are returned to your linked bank account and that your banks are properly disconnected.

The receipt-scanning/cashback app, Fetch, offers a $1 signup and increased $4 referral bonus promotion, which ends Sunday, 9/22.

Smart Desktop AI's Latest Payment Claim!

SDAI released another announcement on the website dashboard. Key takeaways:
1) An undisclosed private equity firm acquired the IP rights to SDAI's software.
2) A team member got sick.
3) There's no product (but SDAI claims there will be an API soon).
4) The SDAI Telegram and Skool groups will be discontinued.
5) Payments SHOULD start arriving via ACH transfer beginning today at 12 pm EDT.
In addition to the screenshot below, there's a spot on the form where you can update your ACH routing and account numbers. The fields are blank; in an update from July/August, they said they had the information but left the fields blank for privacy/security purposes. So, while I'm not sure if you need to re-enter the routing and account numbers, you'll want to if the information has changed or if you didn't submit it previously.

MoneyLion rebooted its "Referral Rush" promotion last week, offering $10 signup and referral bonuses (double the normal offering of $5). I've been receiving emails of referral bonuses earned throughout September, but up until yesterday, they hadn't yet posted to my account. This is abnormal for MoneyLion, whose bonuses typically post in 1-3 business days. I reached out to MoneyLion yesterday, and they appear to have resolved whatever issue was occurring with my account. I received $865 in referral bonuses last night. I wasn't too worried since MoneyLion has always come through, but I knew something was up with my account. I'm so happy MoneyLion resolved it!
Huge thanks to everyone who signed up through me so far, and I want to remind you that MoneyLion's $10-$60 signup and referral bonus promotion runs through 9/27. For the $10, there's no spend or deposit requirement; just open a free RoarMoney (checking account). The Duds (Whomp Whomp)!
For every "OMG, JUMP ON THIS!" app that hits Referral World, there is usually a handful of duds that also briefly gain popularity before disappearing just as quickly. I've written articles on these fly-by-nighters in previous RWN issues. The past week was no exception. Last week's duds included:
Output Arcade - briefly ran a "Give $30, Get $30" worldwide promotion in mid-late August and shut it down without notice on 9/6. It required new members to sign up for their 7-day trial and pay the $12.99 subscription fee. Output paid out SOME owed bonuses before and initially once the promotion was shut down before false-flagging legitimate members as fraudulent and refusing to pay owed signup and referral bonuses. Based on feedback I've received the past week, some members were refunded their $12.99 subscription fee, while others asked for but were refused a refund. Add to this the lack of professionalism and false accusations made by Leor, Output's "Director of Customer Support":

Amazon Associates "The Drop" promotion - It's not just the newcomers that renege on owed bonuses and sling false accusations. Amazon Associates pulled the same stunt on myself and other referrers last week, accusing legitimate referrers of being "fraudulent." Like Output, Amazon's accusations were vague, not directly stating why accounts were deemed ineligible. Unlike Output, Amazon had a laundry list of Do's and Don'ts listed in the fine print, many of them being nonsensical IMHO (such as, you're allowed to promote in public Facebook groups, but not private ones). While Amazon Associates is legitimate, prominent social media groups won't allow Amazon-related referral posts due to its spammy Temu-style nature.
If you are referring anything Amazon Associates-related, I recommend carefully their Operating Agreement and Operating Policies so you don't find yourself receiving a termination of owed bonuses and/or email threats from the company.Triumph - I know little about this app or bonus, other than that when I was going to sign up, the promotion was already shut down with new signups being waitlisted.
Catch - I signed up for this last week but didn't promote it since I was waiting on my Catch card to be activated, which was supposed to happen within 1-3 business days. I reached out this morning since it still hadn't been activated and received this response:

Smart Desktop AI made another payment announcement while once again rewriting history. This is the third time they've supposedly sent us payments, first through ACH back in August (which we never received), then through checks in the mail (which we never received) and now supposedly ACH again and/or check.
