A soulful space for real connection, faith, storytelling, and support.
Hey y’all, I’m Cody Portie just a good ole Cajun boy tryin’ to bring back the front porch way of life. After 20+ years in law enforcement, I traded the badge for a Bible, a breath of fresh air, and a big ole swing under a cypress tree. I’m a father, a storyteller, and a firm believer that the world still needs slow conversations, strong coffee, and stronger faith. Through Old School Bonds and Down the Road with The Traveling Cajun, I share devotionals, porch talks, real-life reflections, and soul food for the heart. Whether it’s faith, sobriety, fatherhood, or just a simple reminder to breathe deep and be kind I’m here to pour into others the same way folks once poured into me. If you believe in slowing down, living simply, loving your neighbor, and showing up with a servant’s heart, then we’re already kin in spirit.

But what if we didn’t let it? What if, instead of chasing the next big thing, we stretched those sma...

This morning, I woke up slow and quiet just the way I like it. The house was still, the world hadn’t quite started humming yet, and I had a warm cup of coffee in my hand. I sat for a minute, breathed deep, and opened up a book I’ve been slowly working through. Flipped it open and landed right on page 108. And man… that page hit deep. “It is painful to end your suffering. It is painful to p...
