A hernia diagnosis is only the beginning. When is repair appropriate? Which approach suits the patient? What structures must be protected? And how should the plan change when the hernia is recurrent, complicated, or urgent?

*Hernia Surgery Code* by Dr. Atef Ahmed brings these questions into focus through 200 illustrated educational topics organized across 20 chapters.

Designed for general surgeons and surgical trainees, this illustrated guide connects anatomical understanding with clinical assessment, operative planning, and the recognition of complications.

Rather than treating every hernia as the same problem, it emphasizes the factors that shape an individualized repair: symptoms, defect anatomy, tissue quality, physiological reserve, contamination, previous surgery, and patient preferences.
