Hey 👋 I just created a page here. You can now buy me a coffee during these SOULstice festival with Metamorfosize! But honestly, it's not going to be  for me. I have spent over half my life making theater and art in Indonesia for Indonesian audiences. It's been a struggle and yet I still keep going and for sure I am one of the lucky ones. My work has always been about possibility. This is my first site like this and I have decided that for the upcoming Metamorfosize concerts that any coffees I receive for my art will go directly to support my local community made up of Indonesian families who have been deeply affected by the Pandemic - going from crap salaries to no salaries due job loss or other loss of income. (I live amongst urban poor.) So what I do here for my pleasure and my soul ( and hopefully your pleasure and your soul too), can help me to help others because personally I don't know how long I can be generous on my own and I don't really know what else I can do.  But this is not a fundraising performance. Your support will give me energy. There are many things I would like to get started including community gardening brining in people who can train local community. (I started  a garden  this  pandemic but I am also a normal worker & time is limited). I know that people are starting to need food support and internet support for online school.  In some cases, even rent. Yes, I would like to be an artist living off my work, but the reality is that there are others still in such dire need and it's getting worse. I am not an organisation, just an individual living in a community who are less fortunate than me and what I do will be personal. So if you buy me a coffee, that's what's happening to it. Eventually,  once basic needs are covered during this difficult time, I will be buying lights, supporting artists to come and perform here and support emerging work, alternative art.

As an artist, I do site specific work, lead workshops, run a children's drama club, write plays, act, direct, traditional Balinese dance, a  little Betawi and Minangkabau, Odissi. My work is heavily influenced by my living here in Indonesia and of course my journeys seeking masters around the world. A  year ago I took a work, "Jengkol: Jangan Jengkel" to the World's Fist Islamic Theater Festival. It was a sensitive play looking at the different cross cultural understandings that occur and different perceptions in the Islamic world itself and it's relationship to the west. For the duration of  Lockdown I have been creating Corona Dances - essentially a dance diary where each dance is connected to a person, a place, a memory of my time in lockdown. I am up to number 26 and still waiting on a few that musicians are writing music for. Corona Dances were also my protest - a long desire to dance anywhere, take art everywhere, to bring beauty and peace and joy through my movement.. and hopefully someone sees this and will decide that life is too short to not do what you love. Creativity is such a powerful thing and it is suppressed so much. In my dance and my other work, there is always hope. Hope for change.IG @darahrouge
