The Corona Dances are personal project I began at the start of lockdown. They are love stories, relationships across time and space with people I have not seen for a long time and people new to my life. They are diaries in time and space, connected to memories of certain moment in a certain space with certain people. They are experiments with video, sound, memory and movement. I do what I love to do which is dress up, dance and play.
During this time I have reached out to musicians I have admired and asked for pieces of music I would be allowed to dance to. At another times my son and I wrote the music. I have reached out to friends who are poets and have performed to their poetry. Over this time, I also met new people and I responded to suggestions and requests.
I have enjoyed the evolving nature of these pieces, the possibilities I have discovered in myself, and watching works evolve into something. I have also become fascinated by how these pieces touch people and what appeals, what speaks to others and on many occasions I have been surprised by what people enjoy and what people see.
These small intimate dialogues are what I crave.
