Cassey is vomiting daily and losing weight — vets found a 2.5cm × 3cm mass blocking her gut.

My beloved cat Cassey, who is a rescue cat, needs urgent surgery as soon as possible to save her life.

Cassey's start in life was heartbreaking: once used as a breeding cat in a cat mill, she was abandoned and later lost an eye after a dog attack. Despite her troubled past, she's spent the last 10 years with me as the gentlest, most affectionate companion. She snuggles up under my arm every night and sits beside me at home or garden, with her soft purrs bringing comfort through every difficult moment.

She started vomiting over a year ago but it’s steadily increased in frequency, as other illnesses were ruled out with the local MediVet, frequency is now 1-3 times daily. Simultaneously, her weight has significantly dropped from 5.2kg Jan 2024 to 3.53kg on 24th Sept 2025.

It’s devastating to see her health decline and reminded when she looks at me with her tired trusting eyes, even as the vomiting worsens. Cassey isn't just a pet, she's family. Her affectionate gentle nature makes her a joy to be around and want to give her the care she desperately needs.

WHY CASSEY NEEDS HELP

This last month she has been vomiting daily and losing weight quickly, now weighs only 3.35kg. Specialists at Dick White Referrals (DWR) have confirmed a 2.5 cm x 3 cm mass obstructing at the junction of her stomach and small intestine. The mass may be cancerous and even if it isn’t, it’s still largely obstructing her small intestine, that’s causing the daily vomiting and surgery is the only option to save her life. They will attempt removal by endoscopy, but open surgery may be needed if the mass cannot be fully removed.

Despite her hyperthyroidism, Cassey still purrs, seeks affection and shows every sign of wanting to keep going. The vets believe this operation gives her a real chance at a healthy and comfortable life.

I’ve already spent £706 on diagnostic tests, (X-Rays, Ultrasound and Blood Tests).

The surgery is estimated at £4,500. Cassey’s pet insurance covers 80%, but I must raise around £900 to pay the remaining share plus follow-up care, before she can be discharged.

Cost Breakdown

-Total estimated surgery cost: £4,500

-Insurance covers 80%

-Remaining 20% to pay: £900

Thankfully, my insurance will cover most of the cost of the procedure, but I urgently need £900 to pay the remaining share.
