From a young age, I was captivated by the magic of photography. Growing up in a family that cherished every moment, I received my first camera, an AE-1 35mm Canon, at the age of 12, along with photography lessons that ignited my passion. This love for capturing moments blossomed into a lifelong journey, leading me to become a Creative Memories consultant in 1997, where I helped others preserve their stories through scrapbooking. 

 

In 2001, the digital revolution transformed my approach to photography. Gone were the days of limited shots and waiting for film to be developed. With my first digital camera, I could capture countless memories instantly. However, this newfound freedom also created a challenge: what to do with the vast number of photos I was taking. The digital age made it easy to accumulate images, but organizing and preserving them became overwhelming. 

 

This journey took a meaningful turn when I began researching my family genealogy in 2001. I realized the importance of not just capturing photos but also documenting the stories behind them. In 2010, I had the invaluable experience of sitting with my grandmother, going through her photos, and recording her stories before she passed away in 2011. This moment solidified my commitment to preserving memories for future generations. 

 

In 2020, I spent a weekend with my stepmother, who has Parkinson's, helping her organize her photos and finish albums she had started. Witnessing her joy as we reminisced over shared memories reinforced my belief in the importance of this work.
