Simple nominal sentence (Standard Arabic).

In Arabic, there are two types of sentences: Nominal sentence and verbal sentence.

In this post we'll explore the nominal type:

The nominal sentence consists of two parts:

Subject + Predicate (aka: information)

Let's take few examples:

ุงู„ุทู‘ูŽู‚ู’ุณู ุญุงุฑู‘ูŒ

The weather is hot.

ุงู„ุจูŽูŠู’ุชู ูƒูŽุจูŠุฑูŒ

The house is big.

ุงู„ุณู‘ูŽูŠู‘ูŽุงุฑูŽุฉู ุฌูŽู…ูŠู„ูŽุฉูŒ

The car is beautiful.

ู…ูุญูŽู…ู‘ูŽุฏ ููŠ ุงู„ู…ูŽุฏู’ุฑูŽุณูŽุฉ.

Mohamed is at school.

ุฃูŽู†ุง ู…ูู† ุชูˆู†ูุณ.

I'm from Tunisia.

Note that the nominal sentence always starts with a noun (never with a verb).
