August 18th poem: Since When

August 18th poem: Since When

Aug 18, 2024

My sister Betty and brother, Lenny.

Since When

Since when did my little brother grow so tall?

He used to be so gosh-darn small.

Since when did this big guy grow

from the little brother I used to know

to a tall man of six-foot, three,

who now towers over me?

Since when did he become a man?

I used to lead him by the hand.

I used to boss him all around

and sometimes push him to the ground.

But now he's big as big can be

and not for bossing, it's plain to see.

Since when a family did he head?

When he was young, I tucked him in bed.

Now he tucks babes of his own,

since from a child to a man he's grown.
