Maria von Linden was born on July 18th, 1869. She was a zoologist and bacteriologist, the first female student at the University of Tübingen and the first woman to receive the title "Professor". However, the title did not make her a full professor, she wasn't allowed to teach classes and she wasn't able to be financially independent until a pay raise in 1920. Maria von Linden nonetheless dedicated her life to scientific research, among her pioneering work was the development of a bandage material with copper elements that functioned as an antiseptic.
