The journey continues, and I’m excited to launch Phase 2 where I’ll be pushing my limits to fund my coaching journey and support a chimpanzee sanctuary.
Phase 1 of the journey is officially complete. What started as a slightly “crazy” idea, fundraising for my coach education, became real: I enrolled in the course and reached $776 out of $4,000 (almost 20% of the goal).
Now it’s time to have a little more fun… while doing even more good.
I spent my teenage years running, and that I returned to it last year. After six months of training, I ran my very first half-marathon. Slowly, with some pain, but I finished.
This time, I’m taking it up a notch.
We only have two running events in our town each year, so instead of choosing one, I decided to do both. Two half marathons, one month apart.
It’ll be a stretch, but that’s what challenges are for, right?
The goal for this phase is simple: close as much of the remaining fundraising gap as possible, while making a bigger impact along the way.
That’s why I’ve decided to partner with Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage located a few hours drive from our home, and donate 50% of everything raised in this phase to Chimfunshi.

My son and I love Chimfunshi. We first visited three years ago, and kept coming every year. Beyond the incredible work they do caring for rescued chimpanzees, what I admire is their holistic approach: conservation, community work, and education. We love the “Miombo” forest, always exploring the amazing flowers, mushrooms and trees, while hoping for sightings of chameleons and avoiding snakes.
Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust is one of the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuaries. They rescue and rehabilitate animals affected by illegal wildlife trafficking, provide lifelong care for those who cannot return to the wild, and support local communities through education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
