Living your podcasts and learning so much. I’m especially interested in self publishing so November’s collection are really useful. How do you find your beta readers?
Hi Wendy Thanks so much. Hmm beta readers - I guess I started to talk on socials about needing some. With Garden of Her Heart I got 16. 12 responded. One didn’t enjoy it and gave me scathing feedback beyond what I asked for. I needed picking up after that. So most of the 16 I knew. I used a mix of authors and readers. For my next book, Tell It To The Bees I got 8 and all 8 responded and love it. Again a mix of writers/authors and readers. It’s worth pulling together a set of about 5-6 questions and ask people to stick to answering those. Otherwise you get people who go into proofreading. I think there’s an episode on feedback and beta readers. Let me see if I can find it.
