Über Martin
I’m a teacher, researcher, tinkerer, and compulsive builder of things that I wish already existed.
Most of my projects begin with curiosity: How can knowledge be made easier to explore? How can digital tools feel less disposable and more thoughtful? How can we preserve, connect, organize, and rediscover things that would otherwise disappear into forgotten folders, broken links, or obscure corners of the internet?
One of those projects is my Videothek — a digital video library inspired by the old physical video stores I grew up with. I’m building it as a place for discovering films, alternate versions, fan edits, archival material, rare recordings, and other pieces of film culture that are often surprisingly difficult to find, identify, or properly document.
I build these projects independently, mostly because I enjoy the strange combination of research, design, programming, and obsessive attention to detail that they require. I want them to be useful, beautiful, open to exploration, and made with a little more care than the average database.
If you enjoy what I’m building, a coffee helps with hosting, domains, research, development tools, and the many small costs behind keeping independent projects alive. More importantly, it tells me that someone out there finds this work worth continuing.
So if you’d like to help me keep building odd, useful, overly ambitious things on the internet: thank you. ☕
