Hi, I’m John—the developer behind Mean Hamster Software, a retro computing enthusiast, and someone who still thinks old computers have plenty of new tricks left in them.

My dream for HamsterOS—and our entire library—is to let people experience classic computers the way I did in the ’80s and ’90s. Back then, choosing a computer meant more than picking a screen size. Every machine had its own personality: different graphics, sounds, quirks, and wildly different approaches to solving problems and having fun. Learning what made each one tick was part of the adventure.

Through projects like HamsterOS, AGI-64, and new software for vintage hardware, I want to share that sense of discovery. There’s a special kind of joy in making a decades-old machine do something you never thought it could.
