Hi, my name is Kris. 

I’m a single parent and an Army veteran, and right now I’m hanging on by a thread. coff.ee/Zerok22My teenage child and I are facing eviction. We’re behind on rent and have nowhere to go if we’re kicked out. I never thought I’d be in this position — asking strangers for help — but here I am, desperate and out of options. After serving in the military, I came home with more than just memories. I struggle daily with mental health issues that make it hard to keep steady work. I’ve fought for my country, but now I’m fighting just to keep a roof over our heads. The rent is overdue, and the eviction notice is real. We’re not talking months — we’re talking days before we could lose everything. My kid deserves better than this. They deserve to feel safe, to have stability, to sleep in their own bed without fear of being thrown out into the street. I’m not asking for luxuries. I’m not asking for long-term support. I just need enough to catch up on rent and buy us a little time to breathe, to regroup, to try and find a way forward. If you’ve ever felt like the world is closing in on you, like no matter how hard you try it’s never enough — then you know what this feels like.
