(This was my cut pet rat named Dr Zhivago. When he was alive, I would put him on my shoulder and watch tv to relax after a long day)
I am currently on my fourth term for BSIT to MSITM program at WGU, and something that I have felt again and again is Certification Exhaustion.
I am now certified in A+, Net+, ITIL, AWS CCP, and Linux Essentials.
Every time it feels like I go through this cycle
Time to Research for Cert Material
Open Class
Cycle through Course Instructors to find the material that makes sense for me
Voucher approval Time: Certmaster hell
Practice Exam no-life
Take the Exam that is nothing like anything you studied and cross your fingers that you pass
Every Cert has the same problem. There is so much material out there.
What do I choose?
Everyone suggests the same people over and over again, but are they right for me?
Its like trying to find Cinderella and you have that glass slipper but nothing fits
(or Goldilocks if that is your bag)
This Practice Exam is overly worded and flowery language and goes way off of the objectives
This Practice Exam is too simple and treats the exam like a vocabulary test
This Practice Exam hyper focuses on specific subjects in the course but ignores everything else
This Practice Exam is extremely hard and I have no idea how I am going to remember all of that in the timeline I need to pass
Its almost like the blind leading the blind. The instructors take the objectives, take the exam, and then make a course on what they think is most important.
The result is Certification Exhaustion
So much work going through so much material where half of it isn't even on the exam and you think to yourself "what did I just take"?
No matter how pushy my school is, I always take the time away from everything after an exam and breathe.
Personally I will go and find a nice book to read, drink some tea, and maybe have something sweet with it. I do not take a long break maybe a few days, but it helps me recharge.
Take a few days for yourself. The rest of your courses will be there when you get back, but you need to recharge otherwise you will be completely exhausted and burnt out.
I hope that you guys continue have good luck in your studies and find your recharge moment.
