When I was a kid, all I wanted was to write software for the Macintosh. What I actually managed were a few clumsy little shoot-'em-ups — Space-Invaders-grade stuff that crashed about as often as it ran. Then life happened, and the beige Macs went into the closet.

I went on to study Computer Science and made it into the industry — only to look up one day and realize the world had moved on entirely. Frameworks on frameworks, build pipelines, the cloud. Somewhere along the way the magic had quietly slipped out.

 

Then, almost by accident, I opened an emulator. The startup chime played, the Happy Mac smiled — and my muscle memory came flooding back. The menus, the windows, the rhythm of the Toolbox: my hands just knew. I was twelve again. I love this thing.

So I came back to finish what that kid started. OS9Map, PlatinumSky, and ClassicNet are native Mac OS 9 apps that put those PowerPC machines back on the modern internet — real TLS, real web services, no proxies, no cheating. Just the Toolbox, a cross-compiler, and a lot of stubbornness.

It's the dream I had at twelve, built with the patience I didn't have at twelve. If you remember the chime, the Happy Mac, the whir of a hard disk spinning up — a coffee helps me keep the old machines (and the dream) running. Entirely optional, always free. ☕
