Tesla Update 01.11.2023

Nov 01, 2023

Tesla has won the first U.S. trial over allegations that its Autopilot driver assistant feature led to a death, marking a major victory for the automaker. The verdict represents Tesla's second big win this year, in which juries have declined to find that its software was defective. Tesla has been testing and rolling out its Autopilot and more advanced Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which has drawn regulatory and legal scrutiny. The outcome in civil court shows Tesla's arguments are gaining traction: when something goes wrong on the road, the ultimate responsibility rests with drivers. The lawsuit filed in Riverside County Superior Court alleged the Autopilot system caused owner Micah Lee's Model 3 to veer off a highway, strike a palm tree, and burst into flames, all in the span of seconds. Tesla denied liability, saying Lee consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel.

For the most part, Tesla should be pleased with the news that it has won a trial involving its Autopilot technology. This favorable result may increase investor trust in the company's autonomous driving technology and operations as a whole. Consequently, this news may have a beneficial effect on Tesla's stock price.

Besides that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company plans to produce 200,000 units of its electric pickup truck, Cybertruck, annually. The company previously stated that it could produce over 125,000 Cybertrucks annually, with Musk adding that the capacity could increase to 250,000 by 2025. The deliveries of the truck will begin on November 30, nearly four years after its unveiling. Musk reiterated the difficulty of producing the Cybertruck, stating that manufacturing is much harder than the initial design. He also mentioned that the company could face "enormous challenges" in ramping up production and ensuring cash-flow positive cash flow. The deliveries of the Cybertruck will begin on November 30.

Tesla wants to increase the number of Cybertrucks it produces, as seen by Elon Musk's promise that the business will build 200,000 of them a year. Musk did, however, also note that increasing output may present "enormous challenges" because to the difficult nature of the manufacturing process. This announcement may be seen differently by investors. On the one hand, it demonstrates Tesla's dedication to growing its product range and gaining a sizeable portion of the market for electric pickup trucks. However, the admission of manufacturing issues would make some wonder if Tesla will be able to reach these output goals. A successful Cybertruck is critical to the expansion and financial success of Tesla.

Tesla shares are currently trading at $199.40. In technical terms, it is possible to say that this level is a support level. This is also because $200 is a psychological buying level. A loss of this level could push Tesla shares up to $150. Considering that there is basically positive news about the company, these declines can generally be considered as buying opportunities.
