Dariia Dantseva - (b. 2000, Dnipro, Ukraine) is biohacker, founder of the first Ukrainian DIY biohacker space Yanelab, member of the international group of biohackers Central Dogma Collective. She began her biohacking journey at the age of 17, building a genetic engineering lab in her brother's room. The main motivation was the lack of resources and finances within traditional institutions, so she chose biohacking as an alternative to traditional education. Currently, Dariia heads an open biohacking lab-makerspace, conducts workshops and lectures with the aim of popularizing science. In the summer of 2020, together with her colleagues, she developed and tested on herself the world's first open-source DIY DNA vaccine against the coronavirus, documenting the entire process and making the materials freely available. Her practice focuses on the democratization of science, the study of the intersection of science and art, the popularization of "garage" science, interdisciplinary art, and the advocacy of bodily autonomy.
