On the current state of things

Oct 02, 2022

I don't want to leave you all without any updates on the situation, especially those of you kind enough to donate and drop me kind words as messages, comments, and so on. These words of encouragement and support are reaching my eyes (Yes, I can see them on reddit, I just can't reply. It's like I'm a ghost. How spooky and thematic for October.)

For those out of the loop, reddit has suspended the author account for the vague offence of "Content Violation." With 133+ chapters posted (plus art, plus moderator actions such as wiki upkeep, plus comments in general), it's very vague to me where this 'violation' was. They haven't elaborated anything useful past that in a single message saying the ban would remain in place (days ago), and refused to return the account, and haven't communicated further despite appeals lodged via a very short contact field, leaving me with scant few options to continue things 'as they were.'

Don't despair.

I am writing more content, and the beta document is growing in length. Donors should have gotten a link to the document to see the pre-release rough draft.

I will be continuing on the story, in one place or another. The question has been whether I'd be waiting it out in some hope that they'd come to their senses and restore the account (growing increasingly unlikely as the days tick by without another answer), or picking it up via RoyalRoad, a site I didn't intend to move to until after book 1, version 1, was completed. (Which, at current publishing rate, was about a year out. Not ideal to jump so prematurely.)

I realised that if I am to move it over to RoyalRoad, then I'd like to take advantage of the fact I'm re-posting 'from chapter one' to polish up the story a bit before starting over. Fixing a few errors, giving it a general once-or-twice-over, adding some bits of content here and there. This was the plan, but I'd intended to do it after finishing 1.0 in a year's time or so, not "with v.1.0 awkwardly mostly done."

I also don't want to leave you without any updates story-wise. If you haven't got it already, here's a link to the current beta document- including chapter 134, 135, and some more content as well, (albeit in various stages of completion.) This should, hopefully, keep you engaged with the story, while I think of a way to un-screw this situation, or at least test some theories I've had as to the nature of the ban.

Of final note, the /r/hfy and /r/sexyspacebabes mods (distinct from Admins) have been very helpful to me, explaining that they did not receive any reports on my account whatsoever. There are back-channels to report users directly to admins (who, again, aren't talking), bypassing the mods, but that's conjecture on my part. I don't hold the moderators accountable for SSBSubjugation's ban.

The situation overall is very unexpected, so, I haven't made many prior preparations to this end as-yet, so pardon the disappearance. But plans are in the works to find a way to keep the story going on Reddit in a way that is at the very least technically compliant with the TOS.

TO that end, keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned- (oh, and please don't screenshot this. This message is only going out to you subscribers, and with luck, we'll see new chapters dispatched soon, but that beta link is for you).

Can't Stop the Signal.
