This week has been a bit on the stressful side. I've been putting in a lot more work for the YouTube videos and trying to find interesting topics for the blog. This is on top of making sure client work is taken care of. Needless to say, I've been busier this week than I have been in a while.
However, there's a lot of fun things starting to kick off in the very near future.
First Friday Live Stream
In a couple of hours, I'm doing the first live stream for Friday mornings. I'm not really sure how well these are going to work for subscribers and followers. But, since a lot of my audience is "across the pond," I wanted to give them a chance to attend something live. After all, they are about 8 hours ahead. So, when I go live on Mondays, it's 3 am in the UK.
This means I need to get done with as much as I can before the 10 am live stream (Mountain Time - Denver).
Instead of people watching me drink and get lightly buzzed, we'll be doing coffee. This morning, I think I'm going with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte.
Despair By Saturday Night
One of my goals today is to have Episode 9 of Despair uploaded and scheduled for Saturday night. I want to get it back on a normal schedule, which means I'll wind up doing three videos today. And since I do everything by myself, that's probably going to chew up a lot of time.
I'm pretty excited about where the story is going, though.
I just wish I had more time to make longer episodes. As it stands, I barely have time to do the ones I'm currently making. Still, the dust around here is starting to settle and I'm getting a good flow going.
We'll have to see how the next week unfolds.
Perhaps I can start increasing the target number of words slightly. Right now, I usually hit around the 1300 mark before making the video. Maybe if I added just a bit more to make them longer...say like closer to 1500 or 1700 words to make 10 minutes per video?
Let me know what you think.
New Videos Are Fun to Make, but...
The new format for the videos is better, in my opinion. And, they are very fun to make. Unfortunately, they also eat up twice the amount of time for producing a video half the length.
I've only done a few so far, but it looks like they also perform better in terms of engagement.
For instance, my videos usually range from around 25 to 35% viewed. This means that almost a third of the video is watched before people leave.
These newer ones range between 47 and 51%. So, I guess there is something to be said about putting in more effort to create something entertaining?
Though, I feel like sometimes it's like watching Eeyore on downers. I just don't have that hyper-active, bounce-of-the-walls, early-twenties energy a lot of creators have.
I'm pushing 45 and haven't slept since 1998. What do you want from me?
I Better Go Get Ready
I only have a couple of hours to go before the live stream, and I have a ton of work to do. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you later.
