A long time ago, I came across a story about whales that live in the cold seas near the polar regions.
When winter arrives, they begin an incredibly long journey in search of warmer waters.
They leave the cold ocean and travel thousands of kilometers toward slightly warmer seas.
I don’t remember exactly where I read this story.
But the image stayed with me for a long time.
Around that time, my life felt a lot like those cold waters.
I had a lot of debt, and work meant constant overtime.
Both my body and my mind were exhausted.
That was when I started a YouTube channel.
There was no grand plan behind it.
It simply felt like I was beginning to move slowly toward somewhere a little warmer.
Like whales setting out each winter in search of warmer seas.
So when it came time to name the channel, the name came to me naturally.

Winter Whale이라는 이름의 이야기
예전에 극지방 근처의 바다에 사는 고래들에 대한 이야기를 읽은 적이 있다.
겨울이 오면 그 고래들은 따뜻한 바다를 찾아
아주 긴 여정을 떠난다고 한다.
차가운 바다를 떠나 수천 킬로미터를 이동해
조금 더 따뜻한 곳으로 향하는 여행이다.
정확히 어디에서 읽었는지는 기억나지 않는다.
하지만 그 장면은 오래 마음에 남아 있었다.
그 무렵의 나는
마치 차가운 바다에 있는 것 같은 기분으로 살고 있었다.
빚은 많았고 회사에서는 늘 야근을 하며
몸도 마음도 많이 지쳐 있었다.
그때 유튜브 채널을 시작했다.
대단한 계획이 있었던 것은 아니었다.
그저 어딘가 조금 더 따뜻한 곳을 향해
천천히 움직이기 시작한 느낌이었다.
겨울이 되면 따뜻한 바다를 찾아
긴 여행을 떠나는 고래처럼.
그래서 채널을 만들 때 이 이름이 자연스럽게 떠올랐다.
