It's all about the boats!
Back in early 2019 Peter (aka The Tight Yorkshireman) spotted a CHEAP narrowboat for sale on facebook marketplace - and that got his brain ticking... Dawn quickly dismissed his latest 'idea'. BUT the seed had been sown, and by August a 1970s Springer narrowboat with no working engine, that had previously sunk - twice - had been purchased...
The idea of a ELECTRIC DRIVE narrowboat came to light so then whilst furloughed from work during the covid pandemic of 2020 Peter, along with some mates, set about making 'The Poor Mans Electric Boat'... with mixed success. That was the start of the YouTube channel.
Later in 2020 an opportunity arose to buy a bigger (50ft) narrowboat - she was called Lyanda Lady. That boat was the focus of over 100 YouTube vlogs titled 'Winging It! Boating On A Budget'. Over those videos Lyanda Lady was stripped to a shell and fully rebuilt - with virtually all the work done by Peter and Dawn.
Skip to December 2023 and Lyanda Lady was sold to buy a 'new' boat. This time a 47ft narrowboat called Rose O'Leigh - So our 2024 adventure is going to be doing a number of jobs to it, whilst getting that boat back home (from the other side of the country) - and having a EPIC adventure along the way.
Meaning 2024 will combine, moving the boat on the inland waterways, doing lots of DIY projects to the boat and seeing the sights of the Midlands and the North of England (and probably a bit of wales as well).
We've also been known to do some other random stuff - like cooking on a log burner / open fire , canal side blacksmithing and using solar power to clean up rusty pans (yes electrolysis by solar power!).
We also have electric bikes and a VW T4 campervan so we can - and do - visit places the boat can't take us.
