It Was So Dark...

It Was So Dark...

Dec 05, 2022

The sensation was unlike anything He had ever experienced. It was so dark, not only because there was no light permeating the wet walls of the cavern He found himself in, but because He had no eyes to receive the light, even if it had been there.

Eyes weren't the only thing missing. He had no mouth. No word could be uttered. He had no feet to carry Him to His destination, no hands to grasp the tools that He required. He had no body at all, and it occurred to Him that He didn't even have a brain to think the thoughts that He was thinking.

He existed, but not bodily. There was a corporeal element to His existence, but it was infinitesimally small. It was so dark, and the darkness weighed on Him as a wet blanket of snow weighs on the boughs of a pine.

So, this is what He had agreed to? This is what was required? For the first time, and there would be more than one, He questioned if this mission was really necessary. The objective, of course, was needed, but wasn't there another way, another path to the end?

His answer came, but not through any voice or message carried to Him with expedience. His answer came with the sensation of those corporeal bits expanding, tearing and multiplying. He must continue. There was no other way.

It was so dark.
