I write short stories populated by characters facing absurd, comically sad situations. Read some of them at www.willwilloughby.com.
My work appears in various publications, including Epiphany, Pangyrus, BULL, Points in Case, and Pithead Chapel. I've been nominated for Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize. In 2025, my story "Downstream Benefits" won the Maine Literary Award for Short Fiction and was listed as a distinguished story in The Best American Short Stories. My debut collection, While I Have You, is forthcoming from Littoral Books.
Writing a good story takes a lot of work and time, and it's the opposite of lucrative. If you like my stuff, please spread the word and give what you can. I'd be deliriously grateful.
Supporters may opt to receive an occasional newsletter in which I give updates on my work and reflect on the writing process. Just let me know in your message whether you'd like to be on that list. (And don't worry—no spam, and your email's safe with me.)
