Devlog #1: GBA core and future

Sep 29, 2026

The next version of Wirá will feature a new core: the GBA one. As with the other cores, it's entirely written in Dart using the Wirá architecture, and it reuses a lot from the GB core (mostly the APU and BUS timings).

Aside from the GBA core, I did some refactoring to build a shared folder. The Mega Drive core (which is already in the app) reused concepts from the SNES core for running multiple processors in parallel. As part of that, I moved the 68k and Z80 CPUs to this shared directory. These processors are common to most systems of that era (like NeoGeo, CPS, Atari, and so on), so it will now be possible to build more cores relying on code already in the app.

For now, I will keep developing and debugging GBA games until they are reliable enough for release. You won't need a GBA BIOS to play, unless you want maximum accuracy.
