Software!
I started learning to write software in 2013, and have been doing it professionally since 2017. By day I'm a Technical Lead at FreedomDev, where I build and lead custom software work for other companies. will-i-am.dev is what I build on the side: small apps that are fun to build, that real people actually use, and that I get to make as polished and full-featured as I want.
Most of what I build starts at home. My wife, Cassandra, is a CPA who used a digital adding machine called Judy's Calculator at work, but it only ran on Windows. She mentioned wishing there was an Android version, so I built her one. That's 10-Key Calculator, and I ended up sharing it with everyone else too. She's also the household's real cook, which is where Cassandra's Cookbook comes from: somewhere better for her recipes to live than a binder crammed between the microwave and the wall.
When I'm not building software, I'm chasing two young kids and two dogs around the house, and tending a small army of houseplants.
