Someone asked me that last week, and it deserved a proper answer rather than a quick one.
Scotland came first. I fell for it as a teenager, for the landscape and the history as much as anything else. The whisky followed later, mostly in quiet glasses shared with my father. It became one of my greatest passions.
By the time I started painting in watercolour, merging the two felt less like a decision and more like the obvious next step. Whisky already carries its own stories; painting simply gave me another way to tell them.
