Education makes the impossible, possible.

Without the education David Breakspear received in prison, there’s a big chance that he would be back in prison now and not the reformed man he has become. His education was the pathway to his reform and whilst in prison he made a commitment to do everything he could to help others change their lives and raise awareness of the importance of education.

David also made a commitment to never profit from prisons or people who are in prison and he has honoured it to this day and will continue to do so.

Shortly after his release, David started his blog ‘Journey of a Reformed Man’ to share his own, previously private and unspoken, lived experience to inform, influence and inspire others. Successfully working with prisons and a number of organisations, charities, schools, universities and local government for more than three years. His journey to reform has ended and it’s time to focus on the future and What Can Be.

In June 2020, Kelly joined David, bringing her own experience of this side of the prison wall, over the past four decades to inform, influence and inspire the loved ones of people in prison. Now working together using their combined experience to promote the power of education as the pathway to reform.

Lockdown had a huge impact and plans for the future went up in the air. Plans to start up a Community Interest Company (CIC) and seek funding to continue working without profit, were stopped in their tracks and we have become reliant on Universal Credit and food banks.

The organisations we work with in education and many charities just do not have the budget to cover our expenses. True to our word, we don’t charge prisons for our time and we are missing out on key opportunities to inform, influence and inspire, because we can’t cover our travel expenses either.

We’ve got the drive, passion and determination to be successful, but we don't have the IT skills or equipment we need to progress our dreams or the financial security to give it our all.
