2025 - A Very Busy Year So Far!

Jul 02, 2025

Hello, you lovely lot! If you've received this post in an email, don't panic - I won't appear in your inbox very often. Once or twice a year, if at all, to share something like this - a 'mega list' of everything I've worked on in 2025 so far, from low-spoiler hints to guides and interactive maps.

With any luck it'll point you towards some games you never would've found otherwise - or just give you the warm fuzzies that come with knowing you helped me stay afloat and continue working on some pretty cool stuff in a year that's been tough on game devs, games media - and the world in general, really!

It's been quite the year.

Let's start with a bit of context. Hello! I'm Kieron.

  • I went to university for game development and created a few small projects as a designer.

  • Until quite recently, I was obsessed with collecting platinum trophies on PlayStation.

  • That started my career - writing trophy guides was how I got my foot in the door.

  • Nowadays, I freelance on Fiverr and create interactive maps for Map Genie, a site owned by IGN.

  • You may know me from NiceGameHints, PSNProfiles, Game Rant or Gamer Guides. I get around!

With that out of the way...

Now, the good stuff! We'll rewind time a bit to the end of 2024, as I managed to squeeze some rather cool projects into those last few months.

In November, I joined forces with a friend to put together a trophy guide for Neverwinter and its many, many DLCs. Like most MMOs, it's long past its glory days, but there was a certain charm to digging into old forums and chatting with the game's community to create that one-stop-shop for trophy hunters.

Love it or hate it, there's no denying that Dragon Age: The Veilguard was also hitting shelves. Gamer Guides opted to create a database with plenty of data and screenshots showing off all those fancy, fancy armors. Really, though - how can anyone hate a game with a cheese shield!?

December was the perfect time for a bit of post-apocalypse action with the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl. I'd not played the previous titles, but that didn't stop me from braving the Zone to create an interactive map. Fans would probably set my crops alight if I compared it to Fallout 4, but it really does feel like a Fallout game if it took itself a bit more seriously.

The end of the year also saw me writing low-spoiler hints for Resident Evil (2002), an all-time favourite, and a few guides for GameTips.GG covering Hotline Miami, SteamWorld Heist 2, and My Friendly Neighborhood - all games I'd heartily recommend if they seem even a little bit interesting.

Time marched onwards into January, where early access to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II meant much of my time was spent knocking nests out of trees for my final interactive maps with Gamer Guides. Thank goodness for 'unlimited HP' cheats - the game's combat was not my cup of tea.

I also picked up an entirely non-video-game related hobby: needle felting! Makes me feel like an eighty-year-old woman, but has some pretty cute results (pictured below).

February was a busy time, with some more GameTips.GG guides for Kingdom Come II, Resident Evil, Valheim, and Project Zomboid. If you're a fan of Vikings, or zombies, and / or survival games that aren't afraid to mess you up, those latter two come highly recommended.

I also joined the Map Genie team! My first mapping project was Avowed, which has some truly excellent combat - and exploration that reminded me of Dishonored in all the best ways. It may not have set the world on fire, but it's the only game I can think of that lets you dual-wield wands. Pew pew!

Fun fact: I'm the only person on the Map Genie team that actively enjoys horror games. LOL.

If you're getting the impression from this ridiculously long post that I like to have a bit of a yap, you'd be absolutely right. In an effort to channel that blabbermouth energy into something useful, February marked the revival of Map Genie's subreddit, which is now a hub for answering questions, suggesting new maps, and promoting the team's hard work. As of last week, it's gone from 90 subscribers to just over 200!

March saw me conducting an interview for the first time in my career, chatting to the incredibly talented Grundislav Games (AKA Francisco González, creator of Rosewater). We spoke about the future of the adventure game genre, the challenges that come with a cast of 60+ characters, and the inspirations behind the game's wild-west setting - and, of course, the puzzles.

It also proved to be a great month to rekindle my British spirit, with the mapping of Atomfall exposing me to all sorts of Easter eggs and references to decades-old media (Mr. Bean and Doctor Who being personal highlights).

The fun didn't end there, either; I revisited another old favourite, Portal, to write low-spoiler hints, achievement guides, and trivia that were turned into a companion app.

April was as good a time as any to revisit another old favourite, and that's exactly what I did with interactive maps of Resident Evil 7 and its main DLCs. If you've never played through End of Zoe, fix that immediately.

The quieter month also gave me a good opportunity to revisit some older games, with a new map put together for Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis. I played it for the first time nearly ten years ago, but to Ubisoft's credit, the weird and wonderful DLC still holds up nicely.

GameTips.GG also commissioned a third round of guides, with tips and tricks for Avowed, Minecraft, and Resident Evil 7 joining the site's steadily-growing body of content. It's still finding its footing, but growing nicely. I look forward to seeing where it ends up in 2026 and beyond.

In May, I took a trip through Map Genie's impressive catalogue of maps to see what, if anything, users had suggested we add in the years since the maps were published. Some were a bit bizarre - one user suggested 80+ entirely fabricated missions starring the cast of Annoying Orange on our GTA V map.

As I started marking 'points of interest' on our Fallout 4 map - things that the game draws no attention to, but that I just found kind of cool for one reason or another - it was quite beautiful to see the game's community starting to do the same, sharing nifty little discoveries of their own. If nothing else, it shows you don't need to be playing a multiplayer game to have a connection with your fellow players.

The month then rounded out with maps for Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, a grim take on Arthurian legends. You'll probably have a good time with it if you enjoy the likes of Skyrim, but should probably wait until August when a big post-launch update will hopefully address the final third of the game feeling a bit rubbish.

Finally, June! I turned 23, wrote low-spoiler hints and a review of Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer, and have been hard at work mapping Stellar Blade. With any luck, I'll remember to make individual posts for each project to save me from having to make another behemoth of a post like this.

In the not-too-distant future, I'd quite like to map out the first Resident Evil, interview some more developers, and find the time to actually develop another game myself. Whatever happens, you can find me on Bluesky and occasionally posting my needle felted critters on Instagram.

Thanks for reading!
