Mummification Wasn’t Just for Humans

Ibises, cats, crocodiles—even bulls were mummified as offerings to the gods.

Animals weren’t just pets or pests in ancient Egypt—they were divine avatars. Millions were mummified as votive offerings, each one a sacred transaction between worshipper and deity...devotion, wrapped in linen.

But X-rays reveal many were just bundles of linen and sticks—mass-produced spiritual decoys!

Mummification wasn't cheap, and so ancient Egyptians found a cost-friendly way to make offerings to the gods without costing an arm or a leg...lol, that's my mummy humor :)
