Time for a wee rest

Time for a wee rest

May 31, 2026

Day 61.

Today I’m resting in Largo.

After nearly 700 miles on foot, my body has finally convinced me that a few days of proper recovery is the sensible option.

So that’s exactly what I’m doing.

I’ll be here until my ferry on the 5th June, giving my feet, legs and back a chance to recover properly before setting off again towards Hadrian’s Wall and eventually making my way back south.

A few weeks ago I would probably have seen stopping as failure.

Now I see it differently.

You don’t build something lasting by running yourself into the ground.

The whole point of this journey was to raise awareness and support for Safe Night Project Lincoln. That mission doesn’t stop just because I’m taking a few recovery days.

Since leaving Lincoln on 1st April I’ve now walked 698.54 miles and together we’ve raised £1,555.

Honestly, that blows my mind.

What started as one person with a backpack has become a community of people who believe nobody should be left outside at night.

To everyone who has donated, shared, followed, encouraged, offered advice, bought me a coffee, given me somewhere warm to sit, or simply checked in to make sure I’m okay:

Thank you.

The next chapter starts soon.

Hadrian’s Wall awaits.

And with a bit of rest behind me, I’ll be ready for it.
