The least humane and most counterintuitive choice Western leaders can make is to allow illegal migration to the West to continue while hiding behind overcomplicated arguments to justify it.
A strong, genuinely compassionate leader of a prosperous nation would pursue firm diplomatic negotiations with the countries from which the greatest numbers of migrants are fleeing.
The next step would be to fund decent refugee facilities, security and welfare as close to people’s homes as is safely possible.
Simple calculations suggest enormous financial savings. Common sense suggests less disruption for everyone. Developing nations would suffer far less brain drain, and fewer families would be torn apart.
