Hiya
So a new era began today. My wife has retired early from running the pub we managed together. She has been there for 30 years and in JD Wetherspoon for 35 years!
So today was her last day and I dropped her at work at 7am.
we had organised regular customers, old staff members & friends and family to attend at the end of her shift.
As she left the bar for the final time the pub gave her a round of applause & party poppers & a confetti canon were set off!
What a brilliant woman she is, I told her she is like a pebble being thrown into a lake, and as it hits the water, the ripples start to go out, and keep going affecting the whole lake. This is Like her career in Colchester, she as a humble person doesn't realise the impact she has had as an individual over not only the Pub but the whole of Colchester.
Staff members have found their work ethics as young students making some money to get through uni & go onto careers.
Regular customers have had conversation with her and without knowing she has helped decision & got them through "life".
She has to been a mother figure, a councillor, a friend, a shoulder to cry on, a voice in Colchester & a reliable face to see on a visit to the town.
She will be missed by many.
We have some new adventures planned and I will share them in good time.
