The Anchor that's hope

Jul 16, 2026

Life is rarely a straight line. It is more often a series of peaks and valleys, where the path ahead can sometimes feel obscured by fog or blocked by the unexpected. In those quiet moments when the future feels uncertain, it is easy to become discouraged. Yet, it is precisely in these times that hope becomes our most vital necessity—not as a fragile wish, but as a firm anchor for the soul.

It's the hope & knowing the Lords plans for us that kept our hearts and prayers focused on his healing. This picture was taken this morning and he is doing so well - Praise God.

Consider the words of Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

This scripture serves as a profound reminder that we are not drifting aimlessly. Even when our own vision is limited, we are held within a larger design. True hope is rooted in the confidence that we are being led toward a purpose, even if the destination isn't immediately visible. As Hebrews 11:1 beautifully puts it, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Hope is a practice. It requires us to look past the immediate challenge and maintain our grip on the promises that sustain us. When we choose to "be strong and take heart" (Psalm 31:24), we are making a conscious decision to prioritise our trust in the future over our anxiety about the present.

This doesn't mean ignoring the difficulties of life; it means acknowledging them while simultaneously recognising that they are not the end of the story. Like an anchor that stays submerged and unseen while it does the most important work of stabilising the vessel, our hope remains our constant connection to a steadier reality.

Every season of waiting or uncertainty is also a season of preparation. Just as the earth prepares for the harvest, your life is currently being readied for what lies ahead. You are not losing time; you are gaining depth, resilience, and a clearer understanding of your path.

May you be filled with the peace that comes from trusting in this process. As Romans 15:13 encourages: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Today, take a deep breath. Release the need to have every answer, and instead, rest in the promise that your future is secure. You are moving forward, and that horizon is brighter than you know.
