Right of The Believer - Personal Empowerment By God

Sep 03, 2024

"May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality],"

Throughout the Bible, we see countless examples of God empowering His people to accomplish great things. Whether it's parting the Red Sea, defeating giants, or leading a nation out of slavery, God has shown time and time again that He can do incredible things through those who trust in Him.

In Exodus, God instructs Moses to lift up his rod and stretch out his hand over the sea so that the Israelites could cross on dry ground. Exodus 14:15-16 (AMPC), ”The Lord said to Moses, Why do you cry to Me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward!  Lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the Israelites shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” This was a powerful demonstration of God's empowerment of His people, showing them that He had given them the ability to accomplish what might seem impossible.

In the New Testament, we see how God empowered the apostles to spread the gospel and establish the early Church. Despite facing opposition and persecution, the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered to preach with boldness and conviction, leading countless people to faith in Jesus Christ.

These examples, and many others throughout the Bible some I will list below, remind us that God is always with us, empowering us to accomplish great things in His name. As we face challenges and obstacles in our own lives, let us remember that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. God puts it like this in Philippians 4:13 (AMPC), “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency].” so understand and be convinced that God has given us everything we need to live an overcoming victorious  life of faith and purpose.

Here are some additional examples of God’s empowering of His people to achieve things that others may think impossible however as the bibles says in Luke 1:37, (AMPC), “For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.” And again in Luke 18:27 (AMPC),

“But He said, What is impossible with men is possible with God”. And even yet again in Matthew 19:26 (AMPC), “But Jesus looked at them and said, With men this is impossible, but all things are possible with God.”

  1. Moses - When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses was initially hesitant and uncertain of his ability to accomplish such a great task. But God empowered Moses by giving him the power to perform signs and wonders, including turning his staff into a snake, parting the Red Sea, and bringing water from a rock. Through these miracles, God demonstrated His power and showed Moses and the Israelites that He was with them every step of the way.

  2. Joshua - After the death of Moses, God chose Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. Like Moses, Joshua was initially unsure of his ability to lead such a great undertaking. But God empowered Joshua by promising to be with him wherever he went and by giving him the courage and strength to lead the Israelites to victory against their enemies. Through Joshua's leadership, the Israelites were able to conquer the land and establish a home for themselves.

  3. Esther - In the Book of Esther, we read about a young Jewish woman named Esther who was chosen to be queen of Persia. When the king's advisor, Haman, plotted to have all the Jews in Persia killed, Esther was faced with a difficult decision: she could remain silent and save herself, or she could speak up and risk her own life to save her people. With the encouragement of her cousin Mordecai, Esther chose to speak up and boldly approached the king to plead for her people's lives. Through her bravery and trust in God, Esther was able to save the Jewish people from destruction.

  4. Gideon - In the book of Judges, we read about a man named Gideon who was called by God to lead the Israelites against their enemies, the Midianites. Despite being vastly outnumbered, God empowered Gideon by promising to be with him and by giving him a sign of victory. Through Gideon's leadership, the Israelites were able to defeat the Midianites and restore peace to the land. Judges 6-8 (AMPC)

  5. Elijah - In 1 Kings 18, (AMPC), we read about the prophet Elijah, who challenged the prophets of the false god Baal to a contest to see whose god was truly powerful. Elijah called upon God to send down fire from heaven to consume a sacrifice, and God answered his prayer, demonstrating His power and giving Elijah the victory over the false prophets. Through Elijah's faith and obedience, God was able to accomplish great things and show His sovereignty over all the earth.

  6. Peter - In the New Testament, we read about the apostle Peter, who was initially a fisherman before Jesus called him to be one of His disciples. Through Jesus' teachings and guidance, Peter was empowered to become a leader in the early Church, preaching the gospel and performing miracles in Jesus' name. Through Peter's faith and obedience, God was able to establish the Church and spread the message of salvation to all who would hear. Acts 2-12 (AMPC)

These examples, and many others throughout the Bible, show how God has empowered His people to accomplish great things, often in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. They remind us that God is always with us, empowering us to face whatever challenges come our way and that through faith and trust in Him, we can accomplish great things for His glory.
